I moved to Norfolk from Kent in 2005 and discovered the place I wanted to make my home. I have worked for all that time at Westover Vets and have developed a passion for livestock businesses and cows! My other clinical interests are all aspects of fertility (from implanting bovine embryos to AI on horses) and equine dentistry. In 2014 I completed my certificate in advanced veterinary practice which focused on equine reproduction and dentistry. In 2018 I was lucky enough to be accepted on to the “Developing Beef Expertise” program run by AHDB with the aim of improving the depth of knowledge of vets and consultants to the beef industry.
In 2018, disappointed by the sale of local independent vet practices to the big corporate groups, I persuaded my fellow directors to let me start up a new practice – Breckland vets. This has been a really exciting new challenge, starting with a very small, close knit team and trying to re-create the stereotypical traditional vet practice that James Herriott might have worked in, but with the most up to date kit, medical knowledge and focus on profitable and responsible ways to farm.
Outside of work my hobbies include cows (a small herd of Simmentals), my childen (Henry and Florence) and my long-suffering wife (Justina). I play a bit of squash, run a bit and enjoy all aspects of food – growing, cooking and eating!
